The Diamond Mountains (Mount Geumgang)金剛山圖

Discription

For centuries, the Diamond Mountains has held a sacred place in both Buddhism and Daoism, being revered as a paradise imbued with all of the profound and mysterious principles of nature. The aesthetics of this painting of the Diamond Mountains are quite unique, combining the general style of “true-view” landscape paintings of the late Joseon period with the creative interpretation and abstract expression of folk painting. Documenting scenic areas of the Diamond Mountains on an eight-panel folding screen, this painting epitomizes the resplendent yet schematic style of Korean folk paintings.
